From the least expected circumstances comes a bright future, therefore receive any challenges God give us. For they are all gifts, no matter how pissed we might at one point feel. For God prepares everything for us and unveils His mysterious acts at the right time.
I still haven’t got used of our separation
You and me are stars floating in a vast sky
Opportunities for improvement and self-discovery are just around us. It is our choice whether we grab them or let them slip away from us. The company I’m offering my services to opens me to a world where I discover my hidden potentials while honing my skills. He teaches me the importance of enjoyment in everything I do, endurance to very challenges I encounter and dependence on Him.
Discovering our weakness and limitations is the key to survival. As I would always advice, “Do not bring the whole world down, instead face challenges one at a time”. Keep your minds relax and treat problems as challenges. Be like marathon runners, always maintaining focus towards the goal. Don’t fret when life is bad. Be happy and Enjoy no matter what, sooner or later problems will fed up on us!
Success is a journey, so enjoy the journey! In our quest towards eternity, cruel waters and angry storms come along way. Prove yourself rightful as the captain of your ship. Sail into and through the waters, do not allow yourself to be devoured. Finally, when strips of sunlight shine brightly on our faces, we just know that we are stronger.
Money cannot satisfy man
Education cannot satisy man
Pleasure cannot satisfy man
Neither can success satisfy man.
No matter what type of person we are or what our profession is - Our purpose in life is to be with the Lord…Our profession is to preach the Word.
In the beginning, God created us for His economy. Man was created different from all other creatures. Man has God's image. A glove is created according to the likeness of a hand with the purpose of containing the hand. Likewise, man was created in the image of God with the purpose of containing God.
We are the vessels of God. God wants to be our content. As bottles are made to contain water, we are made to contain God. This is the reason why we won't ever be satisified unless we contain God. Knowledge, wealth, pleasure and accomplishment is not the essence of our being.
Man is God's vessel. And this vessel is divided into 3 parts - the Spirit, the Soul, and the Body. The BODY is simply the physical body belonging to the physiological level, contacting the things of the material realm and is the most superficial part. The SOUL is the mental faculty belonging to the psychological level, contacting the things of the mental realm, and is a deeper part. The SPIRIT is the deepest part of man, belonging to the spiritual level, and contacts the things of God.
For problems of the body one may see a doctor
For problems of the mind one may visit a psychiatrist
Yet only God can solve the problems of the Spirit.
Unless we feed our spirit, we won't ever feel satisfied. God wants to enter into our spirit to become our content and satisifaction. This is the purpose of human existence. We are not merely created to contain food in our stomach or to contain knowledge in our mind, BUT we are created to contain God in our Spirit.
Today I am 3 months old in BitMicro Networks Int'l Inc. which implies I am finally a regular employee. I was 3 months but it seems like a year had passed by. I gained valuable knowledge and very nice friends. Thank you Lord for helping me cope with the challenges I meet each and everyday.
Work has been tough but I am enjoying my tasks. Pressure has been high and Stress Management have rang its bell for me. It is only these days that I understand what it is like being in the real world…. waaayyyyyy too different from school days.
For now, back to work… and detach from it during weekends.
It is thereby an important task for parents to carefully choose a name for their kids, because names somehow determine the type of life their kids will live… Click here to know the meaning of your name.
According to the site, my name means…

Though it pains from within me.
Nevertheless, I'm blessedth
That friends still we'll be.
Thou art my beloved
Someone I wish to hold on tight.
But since I love thee
I'm setting you free tonight.
Time will tell
If we art for each other.
But no matter what,
We art friends forever!
P.S. Good Luck!:)
I remember those days when tiredness were nothing because of thoughts of you and moments with you. During the times we spent enjoying each other's company, deep in my heart I was desperately wishing that the world will stop spinning for me and you.
A sequence of events robbed me back to reality. We were once again living our busy lives. Each and every day, I miss you more and more. I still hope we could turn back time.
Where have you been? I feel that you are pushing me away from you. Was that the other side of 'Love is willing to sacrifice'? Or you have already lost that loving feeling? Or simply all I'm feeling are just assumptions?
I am wishing that I could be a little more aggressive in expressing my heart's cry for you. Not just through my acts but in words that you may understand. "IF YOU ONLY KNEW" … It has been you since then. If there is love…please don't give me up.
My programmer personality type is:
PLSB
You're a Planner.
You may be slow, but you'll usually find the best solution. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
You like coding at a Low level.
You're from the old school of programming and believe that you should have an intimate relationship with the computer. You don't mind juggling registers around and spending hours getting a 5% performance increase in an algorithm.
You work best in a Solo situation.
The best way to program is by yourself. There's no communication problems, you know every part of the code allowing you to write the best programs possible.
You are a liBeral programmer.
Programming is a complex task and you should use white space and comments as freely as possible to help simplify the task. We're not writing on paper anymore so we can take up as much room as we need.

After 4 years of burning eyebrows, most of us had graduated. Our nurses just had their board exams. And most of the techie graduates are already employed. Soon we will have engineers, architects, and more.
The HS batch mates were supposed to have 3 day outing at Puerto Galera. However, our nurses had their board exams. So, we got together at Glorietta instead. It was nice seeing them once again! Although, we were only 9 (Edel, Steph, Sharlyn, Jimson, Derrick, Ariel, PJ, Michael)
When I arrived home[and that was really late!] I got into a very reflective mood. We who ventured into IT courses were those math geeks who at the last minute…decided to take our path. It wasn't planned but a spontaneous event lead us to what we are today. And fortunately we are the first ones blessed with a job.
So IT graduates have a bright future after all, contrary to the discouragement of our former teachers. As a matter of fact, we didn't just get a good job but a career that we love! Came from different universities but achieved our heart's dream! Indeed not everything comes as how we expected but it depends on our perspective in life!
– Met Diane , her sis, and her sister's friends yesterday…
You had visited me, stayed with me for a couple of days and left me all alone once again… I wish you stayed a little longer. I am missing you.
I wanted you to stay longer, so that we could have spent more time together. Though I long for you, I understand your need to be back home. I am working hard here- earning a living and to help you with your needs/wants (if I can). PROVIDED you must be good, study hard and excel! Because surely you'll be in my situation someday…

The success of the company lies on its members.
BitMicro Networks Int'l Inc. held their first team building activity last May 31 to June1 at Loreland Farm Resort, Antipolo. The activity was not intended only for the "fresh employees", but also to build stronger relationships among the members of the company. The team building workshop was well planned, thus well organized. The approach was fruitful, it consisted of games / activities, followed by realizations.
There were inspiring words that made me love THE COMPANY even the more. In the words of Ma'am Mia, our president, "Our goal is not to compete, but to LEAD!, To be the leader of Solid-state technology…", "Championing Filipino talents because our talents are never an underdog, although we are in an underdog country " , "…with passion, commitment, drive to excellence, perseverance,…we can make it…"
Another passage that inspired me to also be at my best was the words of Sir Elmer, "Tight deadlines could be met!", "Think out of the box"…
Ever since, I arrived here in Manila I never did have a good night sleep. Was it because I'm not used to living alone or maybe for other reasons?
Well…It is morning already and my eyes are still awake as an owl! I'm here in pantry blogging while people are already fast asleep! There are still much to accomplish before time runs out! [wahhh…] Project deadline was shortened, and our tool is expected…ASAP! Would we be able to beat the challenge?
Good Luck!
On May 12, 2007 (Sat, 6:45 AM). BitMicro Networks employees left for Cavite for their 2nd Summer Outing.
With me are my new friends- Gemer, Marited, Colleen, and Christian. They are fresh graduates from UST and was employed a week earlier than me. Gemer is my teammate in my 1st project. Ted, Marited and Colleen belong to the Web development department..
There are many nice people to mention… I still have work to do. I'll be posting some of our outing pics hopefully soon!:) Miss Yah guyz!
It has just been a while and now I am entering the gateway to the real world…
The past few days had been hard - turning down the lifestyle I was used to and moving away from people close to me….in pursuit for my dream. Nevertheless, there are no regrets and I am slowly embracing what life offers me.
There are lots of adjustments that must be made. There are new people to deal with. There are new friends to keep. But the pages of this chapter would be filled with how I would finally be able to stand by my own two feet. Would I be the person who makes the moments of her life? Or would the moments to come define who I'll be?
Actually, there is no need to choose between the two because they tango with each other. Life offers lots of opportunities, and being keen to spot and to grab them is something. Being able to make out of it is the challenge! Am I right to say that real world is about making the person who makes the moments of her life out of the moments that she is in? hehe:)
All I am experiencing right now doesn't mean that I'm leaving my old self behind. I will try to remain still the 'GRAINNE' you have known…I'll be keeping in touch whenever I can…
–> enjoying work and excited for the company outing!:)
March 29, 2007
This is my first time to write inside a plane. Today is March 29, 2007; Cebu Pacific flight 5J436 bound for Cebu departed Zamboanga late for more or less 15 minutes. I am finally leaving to take a break and to look for a career in other place. As I am here alone, my heart and my mind longs for somebody to be beside me. I miss him dearly as how I miss everyone else close to me, whom I left behind in Zamboanga. Well, till next time. I finally arrived at Mactan, Cebu.
March 30, 2007
Today is the opening of the 3rd Annual JobStreet.com Career Expo in Cebu; venue is at Ayala Activity Center from 10 am to 9pm. Since, I was one of the early birds; I was rewarded with a free CD from JobStreet. I submitted my resumes to several IT companies; some gave souvenir items and company fliers [wehehe]. Immediately some of these companies called me up to take their exams [how fast!]. Companies were: Fujitsu Ten, Exist, Safeway, BitMicro, and Accenture. Accenture brought us to Waterfront hotel at 11am, only then was I informed that the screening was for the position of Call Center Agent (CCA); they promised that my application would be forwarded to the concerned recruiting team [hopefully]. Nevertheless, I took the exam for CCA, I failed the 2nd test [daaahh, I don’t see myself as cca anyway]. I’ll be taking exam with EXIST tomorrow 9 am and FUJITSU TEN at 8 am on April1.
I saw the casts of Aalog-alog a while ago at 4pm. Timing their mall tour is right at the venue of the job fair. Present were: Zanjoe Marudo, John Pratts, Randy Santiago, Ai ai de las Alas. The crowd was so eager, so I left the venue; there might be more of them that I wasn’t able to see.
March 31, 2007
Before I was to take the EXIST programming exam, Safeway texted me to be at Golden Peak Hotel to take their exam. Wooohhhh!
EXIST is located at Asiatown IT Park, at Lahug, Cebu. The exam lasted for 3 ½ hours and it wasn’t enumeration!!! I dream of passing the exam, so that I could join the code camp. The goal of this code camp is to develop teamwork and to expose the participants to the newest tools that are used in the industry. Expenses and materials that are to be used in the code camp will be shouldered by the company. Teams will be competing with each other. There would be eliminations based on certain criteria. And the champion would win a trip to HongKong and a yr contract to work with EXIST.
I chose to take the 2nd batch exam; the exam was 3 pm. Safeway exam went fine. But I was so drained during this time. I just hope I did well though. After the exam my Ahya Michael showed me the venue of tomorrow’s exam. Before the day ended, we were kinda adjusted with each other that we no longer were so shy to converse with each other. Thanks to Ahya Michael for driving me around.
April 1, 2007
Wooohhh… I have an exam at 8 am; it will last for 4 hours… Later then!
My brain will spill out of my skull! I just finished the exam; the test with FUJITSU TEN was extremely difficult. It was so technical and questions were ambiguously asked. For now, it seems impossible to enter this outstanding company. I suddenly was reminded of the Philnits exam in Zamboanga, it’s scheduled today! FUJITSU exam is much more difficult though!
I just arrived home. Today is my 3rd day in Cebu and my first time to roam around the malls. There are lots of foreigners in the malls and streets- most of them Korean. There are lots of goods at Cebu’s shopping malls but prices are scary…what more in Manila! It is a lonely being in another place with no one to talk with. A simple walk with someone special would be memorable. Anyway, I bought Bluetooth USB, and it costs only P395. By the way, I was mistaken to be a HS student for several times this day. I feel so young! [Hahaha]
April 2, 2007
I went to AsiaTown IT Park; I passed my application to NEC. Then, we went to Mambaling and visited my Sa-e. She invited me to be with them Wednesday night and sleep in their house, so that Thursday we can leave early for San Fernando—picnic daw. Well, nothing to lose, I want to see what is San Fernando like, but I won’t be swimming. My skin is just starting to peel from the sunburn I got from our outing at jeers. I miss my friends and my little boss.
I spent the whole afternoon surfing the net, grabbing pictures, uploading pictures in my friendster and my photo blog. Check out my photo blog!
Then I received a phone call from NEC asking me to take their exam on Wednesday at 2 pm. Hayyy…another exam. I hope I’ll do it right!
April 3, 2007
I need to stay home the whole day and wait for BitMicro Network Inc. to call me up for a phone interview…
While waiting for the phone interview, I read and reviewed my C programming. Tomorrow will be the NEC qualifying exam. I believe they will be asking about C stuffs, so I better get prepared.
Alas! Phone interview is done! They called me up three times, asked about my interests and language preference. They were very interested with BlueVoice, to the point I thought of the possibility of me being assigned in software development using JAVA. But then, the conversation shifted to me as firmware developer. If ever, I'll be using C and Assembly. Well, I'm up for this challenge! I'll still have to undergo one interview and it is scheduled on April 17 with the CEO. I dream to be employed here…good luck to me!
April 4, 2007
NEC exam went fine. I want to believe I pass the technical exam, but I think I'll not be accepted because I wasn't able to finish the IQ exam. I am staying in Balagtas now in the apartment of my Sa-e and her family. I'm comfortable in here, elders here speak more Chinese than Bisaya, and I could now relate and join their conversation.
I should say Cebu is improving in a fast pace. New establishments, resorts, and buildings might be ready to be visited next year. My E-tiu showed me CROWN REGENCY, the tallest building in Cebu with 38 floors, this is owned by Jesus King.
NEC employees are serious people, they value absolute silence!!! Guards actually requested us to put our cps to silent mode before entering the office.
April 5, 2007
I woke up early because I was excited to see Tubod Flowing Water Resort, that's in San Fernando. We visited two churches before heading there, Pitalo and Simala. Simala is at Lambongan, Sibonga, Cebu City. Accordingly, this place does not run out of pilgrimmers. Simala is a sacred and miraculous place- wishes are granted, people are healed, etc. History mentioned that in the year 1998, the Mama Mary image shed tears and killed the Epidemic mosquitoes. She also healed the people who are sick brought by these mosquitoes and drought.
Today is a memorable day. I had Swimming 101 with Sa-e for 2 hrs. I learned how to float and swim short distances.
After our outing, we dropped by Circa La Playa, badminton resort, just to see the place. It is located at Barangay Tungkil near Tubod.
April 6, 2007
We visited the Church by Danao, and headed to Hadsan Cove resort afterwards. Two days in a row, I got tempted to join them swimming [Morena ya yo ara!
].
April 7, 2007
Just went window shopping at SM…
April 8, 2007
We visited Queen City cemetery, where my Gua-ma and Gua-kong were buried. Fire by the factory caused their death. That incident happened when I was still young and I was living in Zamboanga already, so I didn't spend time with them and could not actually remember how they look. From their pictures; all I can say is that my sister Stephanie looks very similar with my Gua-ma.
We prayed for their souls at Pu-San temple. Then prayed also at Taoist Temple…
I bought two books today at National Book Store - The Intel Microprocessors: Architecture, Programming, and Interfacing 7th ed. by Barry B. Brey and IBM PC Assembly Language and Programming 5th ed. by Peter Abel.
April 9, 2007
I've stayed with my Sa-e and her family for 6 days. I did enjoy my stay here. I'm grateful with their warm hospitality even if I am not related to them. I'll be missing the talks with the elders whose Chinese speaking level is deep. I'll be missing the naughty kids. But I need to be back in Mabolo, since tomorrow they will be busy with work.
It is with pride and honor that we defended our thesis today. It is a thesis of two proud CS students. It is an accomplishment many times harder than my experience in assembly language programming. A fulfillment of what I’ve learned in College…actually much more.
It is 4 hours after we received the verdict from our panelists – “PASSED WITH REVISION”. I am currently expressing my joy and gratefulness for our rewarded effort. Yes, there are revisions…but only minor ones, just some polishing in our final document and user manual. At least from this on, we will be able to breathe normally. Given that we would already graduate as long as we finish our thesis paper and requirements in our other subjects.
Thank you Lord for allowing these things to happen, for giving us the chance to work on BlueVoice system, for the strength and inspiration to pursue this project, for the skills and talents you’ve given me, for the health to be able to continue working and for the people who became part of our thesis.
To my family: I’m so sorry that I’ve been delaying my responsibilities. But despite that, I know you’ve strived trying to understand the hardships that I was undergoing. Well… I hope you are proud of what your daughter had achieved. I offer my success to you!
To my partner, Marlon: Without you this project would never exist. It all started with your wildest idea…close to insanity. And I am likewise insane that I got attracted with it. But good thing it happened! We made it! It is not impossible after all! Thank you for working hard with me. We owe our success to ourselves!
To JC: You helped us conceptualize the idea of achieving the goals of our thesis. For the remarkable PowerPoint design, for the icon of the BlueVoice application, for the initial research document and for the encouragement.
To Miss Ebony Domingo: Despite your busy schedule, you have tried to make yourself available for consultation, contribute valuable ideas to come up with this application, provided us with some useful reading materials, and given us constructive criticisms and encouragement.
To our adviser, Engineer Eugene Kanindot: For attending our need for a workplace to work together, for the emotional support, for reading our document, and most especially for making me feel confident of myself.
To our co-adviser, Engineer Ryann Elumba: You were the first one I’ve consulted of this idea for a possible thesis project and that day pushed me to decide to work on this. For patiently proofreading our document and for the Bluetooth dongle that made it efficient to test our application.
To our panelists, Sir Gallardo, Sir Greg and Sir Al: For giving us the chance to work on this project and for driving us to do our best. The system would really be nicer if we were not limited with the hardware. Just wait, I’ll be engineer someday!…hopefully
To my CSIT friends: For thy encouragement, it motivated me to go beyond what I thought was my limitation. For criticizing our work, that helps us make clear of how our system was progressing. And for simply being there everyday that makes life beautiful during my days of discouragement.
Sometimes, we need to gamble with what we believe in. Life is uncertain, it is a constant gambling game. It takes courage to pursue our dreams. Courage however is not the absence of fear, but fear with the commitment for fighting what you believe in. The road towards achieving our dreams is rough, it is not easy to reach its end. But with perseverance and positive view on life, almost anything is possible.
Thank You to All!
Parenting is a dynamic and interactive process.
There are attitudes or approaches that parents need to reexamine to make parenting effective. One of the common misconceptions that parents undertake is that, they think their children are like soft clay, to be molded into the shapes that they choose them to be. The child is not the property of the parents or a moveable asset owned by them. Parenting involves being affectionate and available to the children, ensuring their health, safety and education, nourishing and cherishing them as they grow into adulthood. This is what Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” section on children is all about.
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
It is good to allow a child to have autonomy of his own. Parent’s responsibility is to just ensure that there is no excess, no imbalance in their child’s practice of autonomy. Firmness and fairness in dealing with a child go a long way in conveying a sense of a stable world to the child.
Another problem is that parents look parenting as a task, a very serious business. The tendency of parents trying to fit the child into his pre-fixed pattern grows extremely high. On the other hand, if parenting becomes enjoyable, it is good for both the parents and the children. A parent can and should offer guidance and direction, without trying to make the child to be like him.
The parent must value the child as a person, not merely as a reflection of one’s upbringing or an extension of oneself. As people, we tend to be accepting of our friends and a little intolerant of those related to us. If a parent can think of the child as a friend, who has chosen to enter his family circle, the changed perspective will transform the idea of parents controlling their child. It is true that the responsibility of parenting cannot be wished away or written off. The child is young, inexperienced, vulnerable and in need of protection and nurturance. The parental temptation to have absolute control over everything the child does or thinks should be stoutly resisted.
To make all these possible, the secret ingredient is love.
