My dad was given a book by his friend. The book was written by David King entitled “You Can Succeed”. From the title alone, it’s all about attaining sucess, it starts with definition of success, true success stories, tips, etc…
Today is my first day of reading this book…the book is really interesting. Let me share with you what I have read.
Seven Steps In Achieving Sucess: 1. Have a vision: Set your goals, 2. Gain power through constant learning, 3. Rise above every faliure, 4. Keep yourself constantly motivated, 5. Build on your relationships, 6. Never, never give up, 7. Achieve total success with spirituality..
After reading several pages, I came across with a line of thought, “A goal that is not written is only a wish”-Anonymous. With this reason, I am writing down my unspoken dream and i encourage you to also do so.
When I was still a kid, I’ve always wanted to become an engineer. ..a super-genius mechanical and electrical engineer…:)I am always fascinated to the inventions of scientists - robots, techies, heavy machines, etc…
I’m proud to say that “math” is my forte. My friends used to encourage me to take up accountancy/engineering in college. Especially engineering because this course requires high mathematical skills. But today I find myself as a computer science student.
Ei! Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining and i’m not frustrated. It’s just that i was not able to envision myself as a CS student. To tell you, during my high school days, i was not interested in computer stuffs. In fact, they were once alien to me. Although, I could already program some simple codes with little effort…:)
Ist yr. in college was a very challengiing adjustment phase in my life. There were many times that I feel so embarassed not knowing what others considered “simple stuffs” and presumed that I have prior knowledge on them. To tell you honestly, I envied the level of knowledge of my classmates. From that day on, I vowed to learn at least some of these stuffs in class, through others and on my own. Knowledge is power. ANd the best place to gain more knowledge is in school. I might know less than others do but i am always willing to learn.
It wasn’t for long, I learned to appreciate, enjoy and love what I am doing. A piece of metal needs to be melted, shaped, hammered several times to obtain a strong sword. Like metal, i need to undergo all these and someday I might be like a sword. I realize that I taking up CS is not just an accident. Perhaps I was meant to be here, I just did not realize it earlier. At first, taking up CS was just because of my dad’s suggestion and my choice to do so because I heard I can make use of my math skills in this 4-yr course. I am a math freak. I might be an engineering student now, if it was not because it requires 5yrs. of studying. But now, I believe CS is the BEST foundation in achieving my wild dreams. I’m still on track!
After graduation, the true test will start. What shall come into my life is still uncertain. However, I drafted a plan in achieving my goals. I’ll be working in a Japanese-owned IT industry after I get my diploma. 3 yrs. after, I’ll be sent to Japan and be a permanent employee in this country. I’ll be studying electronics in Japan. 5 yrs. in Japan, I’ll learn how robots are created and be able to build one. At the age of 30, people worldwide will see me on television. I’ll be presenting my invention then…as to the idea, it is still vague, but i know I will. Also I’ll be able to bring my dream house into reality. This house will be equipped with high security systems and application of what I shall learn in elctronics…It would be extraordinary.
There’s another line of thought by an unknown person that I like in this book. I like to use this to end this entry… “No rules for success will work if you don’t”.
