Didn’t know that there exists such principle, “Whoever holds the opposition wins the game!”. Opposition is applicable when the end of game is near. Opposition happens when White King faces Black King horizontally, vertically or even diagonally.
Rule 1: When the number of squares between kings is even, whoever moves first wins.
Rule 2: When the number of squares between kings is odd, whoever moves first loses the opposition.
**Goal of Opposition: For the king to reach the opponent’s side and win the game.
I’ve been playing chess for almost 8 yrs., not knowing how to move chess pieces to yield the biggest threat to my opponents. All i did was to envision all the possible moves and to anticipate every possible reactions of my opponents in the games i played. Probability wise it’s large thus slow. I ended up overexercising my brain and annoying my opponents for waiting too long. I actually have a disadvantage when it’s a clocked game! Grabe…super time pressured! You’ve got to be fast in computing analytically and move surely!
But last tuesday, i’ve learned some useful moves, techniques and puzzles in chess.
From this day on…if i have free time…I’ll be posting the new things I’ve learned . Perhaps somebody out there might be interested
Though I know many think chess is a boring ang tiring sport. :c
I’ll be using algebraic notation to represent my moves:
K- king; Q-Queen; H-Horse; B-Bishop; P-Pawn;
0-0- Kingside enrook; 0-0-0 - Queenside enrook
Legend: black text-black’s pieces; blue text-white’s pieces
It’s a good thing that we have training sessions this summer!
I’ll be able to rid myself from IDLENESS! Bye-bye to my eating and watching TV hobby at home…haha.
This summer would require enthusiasm and hardwork from me. During the day, from 9am to 5pm, training sessions on different programming languages(MYSQL, PHP, JAVA) will be held. Actually, we just ended our 1st session. And thrice a week, we shall have our chess practice for an hour. I am flattered that i was invited to join the chess varsity…or perhaps they just have no other choice because chess varsity lack players already…hehe:).
What i am really excited of is our OMED Training. However, details about how this training will go about is not clear…good luck nalang! I coud not explain how excited yet nervous I am on this training. What I know is that I am happy that I’ll spent my summer 2006 fruitfully.
Yey! Alas! My days would be full again!
Till next post nalang!
