Rays of light entered by my room and accompanied by my pet birds singing, I woke up and headed towards my sanctuary. I breathed the freshness of this morning, while looking at how the flowers raised their heads up glorifying this day. They smiled at me never as before, as if God commanded them to open on this day just to make me smile. Sweet God… He had given me too much gifts throughout the year and had prepared a wonderful surprise for this special day. I could not resist just feeling so blessed for all the blessings He have given me, more on this day for I’m given another year to exist for others.
Today, I’m 20, no longer a teen yet not too old to share my life with others. I thank God for His every blessings and people around me – my family and my friends. My family who never left me despite of my shortcomings, they have been supportive in my dreams and decisions. My friends and people I met, they have made life colorful and meaningful. They have made me who I am. Without you, I know I’m a different person. My dear friends, it’s a good thing that destiny found its way to cross our paths. If it were not, life would indeed be different. Here I am again reflecting… don’t you know that I had my formal studies 2 years ahead of you? If papa was not busy earning a living to support me and mama, I won’t be sent to school. This happened because he feared I’ll become dumb staying inside the four corners of the room without them looking after me. If not because of our situation, I might not have the enthusiasm for studying. Again, I thank my dad that he didn’t accelerate me ahead of you. If so, you might not be my classmate, you might not be my teacher or perhaps I might not be taking this course. And the saddest part of all, we might not be friends. I might be a professional by now and life would be different for sure because I meet different people. I could not stopped thanking God that we met and had the chance to touch each others’ life. Knowing you and having you with life’s ups and downs is what I shall treasure for the rest of my life. Thank you!
